Privacy Policy
NetPresence (“the App”) is published by Drew Starbuck. This policy explains what the App does with information on your device.
Summary
- NetPresence does not require an account.
- LAN scans, device names, notes, watchlists, and history stay on your iPhone.
- We do not run our own analytics backend or sell your data.
- Optional NetPresence Pro purchases are processed by Apple.
- If you connect a UniFi console, your Integration API key is stored in the iOS Keychain on your device.
Information the App accesses on your device
- Local Network. Used to discover devices on the Wi‑Fi or LAN you are connected to (for example via Bonjour and local probes). Results are shown in the App and may be saved in on-device history.
- Location (When In Use), optional. Used only so iOS can provide the current Wi‑Fi name (SSID) and BSSID when you ask. The App does not track your location in the background and does not use Location for advertising.
- Notifications (optional). If you enable Pro alerts, the App can notify you about new devices or watched devices that disappear or return. Notifications are scheduled on device.
- Purchases. Apple processes NetPresence Pro via StoreKit. We receive entitlement status from Apple; we do not receive your full payment card details.
- UniFi credentials (optional, Pro). If you paste a UniFi Network Integration API key and console address, they are stored on device (Keychain / local preferences) so the App can talk to your console. We do not upload those secrets to a NetPresence server.
What we do not collect
The App does not operate a NetPresence cloud account for scan data. We do not sell personal information. We do not use your LAN scan results for advertising.
Third parties
- Apple. App distribution, StoreKit purchases, and system services (notifications, Keychain, Local Network permission).
- Your router / UniFi console (optional). When you connect UniFi, the App contacts the console address you provide using your API key. That traffic goes to your network equipment, not to a NetPresence backend.
Data retention
Scan history, renames, notes, and watchlists remain until you delete the App or clear them in-app. Uninstalling the App removes local App data under normal iOS behavior.
Children
The App is not directed to children under 13.
Changes
We may update this policy. The “Last updated” date above will change when we do. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
